Bucharest, Romania
We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in old town Bucharest on our way across Romania. The kids and I spent two days there while Joe had to go and work. As someone who has an irrational fear of being kidnapped and not having my husband there to verify if I was safe or not, I holed up in the hotel with the kids. Also toting around a 9 month old and 2 year old takes a lot of energy… my moms out there will know what I am talking about… we ordered food to the hotel using the Bolt food app (Bolt is Romanias Uber) and Sawyer and I were not disappointed! On one of the nights, we ordered from DonCafe Brasserie Dorobanti. I got the Pad Thai which I did not share with my 2 year old cause it was just so good I selfishly had to eat it all. I did get Sawyer the Tikka Masala and it was also very good, on top of that I got us the lemon and herb grilled chicken breast for some extra protein and for my 9 month old to chomp on. All of it was amazing and if I stayed longer in Bucharest I’d be ordering from there again. It comes as no surprise that after devouring our dinners I was craving my usual chocolate sweets and oh how convenient it was to oder AGAIN on the Bolt food app for some delightful sweet treats. I got a couple of brownies and an orange cookie which mmmmph DELICIOUS. Sawyer and I had a bathroom sweet treat party since my youngest was already asleep for the night. Sounds terrible but hey, ya gotta do what ya gotta do when you’re hotel living. Truthfully I’ll take eating in the shower than risk waking up my 9 month old who I’ll have you know, hates sleeping. Once he’s awake, its game over.
After 24 hours of holing up in the hotel I did get a lil antsy and decided to load up the kids and head out for a morning stroll. I’m so glad I did because wow. I discovered so many different picture taking spots and I committed to memory every potential picture spot so I could come back with my camera. I decided to forgo the stroller for this walk so Sawyer and I walked about a mile around old town with Hunter strapped to my chest in a baby carrier. I’m so proud of Sawyer cause home girl walked the whole way with no complaints. When Joe was free of work I grabbed my camera and we headed out again to capture the photo spots! Except this time I’m pretty sure the temperature dropped 10 degrees and it was kinda miserable. Regardless I got the photos I wanted and I’m so happy with them. I wish I had more time to spend capturing the city life of Bucharest becasue there was so many more photos i couldve taken but we were on a tight schedule. Lesson learned, 1. Always take your camera with you and 2. Don’t waste your time worrying about being kidnapped and just get out there and explore.
